About Animo

Animo! is a positive call to keep going, and  to ‘take heart.’  It is a shout of encouragement from one person to another

My work takes place both in person and online. Please do get in contact if you would like to discuss a future collaboration or workshop, whether in person, online or a hybrid event.

Animo is:  Kate Goodrich, working solo or in collaboration with other people to provide a kate-piccreative training, or group work experience, that you will remember, reflect upon and use.

I work as a facilitator of groups, enabling people to have engaging, and sometimes difficult conversations. These workshops and conversations might be all sorts of things: change management, mental health, team development, community cohesion, or interpersonal dynamics. I work in a way that draws out the  connections  that we have with each other, helping people and groups to discover decisions and be able to move forward.

Experience: I have an MA in Applied Theatre, am a trained and accredited Myers Briggs facilitator and have a JNC level II Youth and Community Work diploma. I have managed charities / state youth organisations and worked in NGOs in the UK and overseas for the last 20 years. I use a wide variety of practical group work techniques – applied theatre, consensus building, Myers Briggs and conflict resolution…whatever works and is appropriate for the group.

My AIMG_0926pproach: my group work style is creative, dynamic and  enjoyable, and whilst I am often engaged in working with difficult topics;  laughter, active exercises and analysis are all important components of the way I work.

I thrive on working with diverse groups, helping create frameworks and situations for people to explore topics that can allow us to see things from alternative perspectives – allowing improved connections, understanding and actions to emerge from the group. Due to this focus on ‘perspective taking’ I have frequently worked with groups involved in conflict or those seeking to understand other people and cultures more sensitively.

“Kate is a brilliant facilitator. I have had the good fortune to work with her many times over the years. She has an extraordinary gift for instilling confidence in people, even when sensitive issues come to the surface. She works with real skill to help groups to process a lot of material and then come to a conclusion that allows everyone to move forward together. She grasps issues and group dynamics quickly and comes up with imaginative solutions whenever movement seems to be blocked. She is a formidable professional who wears her many skills lightly”
